Part 1 of The Leadership Competencies Library explains why each leadership competency matters, and what it looks like when it is performed by an accomplished leader. Leadership development needs to start by giving future and current leaders a clear picture of "what good looks like" and the impact their growth will have on their success and the success of their organization.
The first section, “Why it Matters,” gives a succinct summary of the impact that high levels of performance in each leadership competency can provide. Answering “why” each competency matters provides the motivation for making the investment of time and energy in leadership development.
The section entitled “What it looks like” helps leaders start their development with the end in mind, so they can begin their path to becoming a stronger leader already knowing the destination they are meant to reach.
